SSC CHTE 2024: Apply for Combined Hindi Translators

SSC CHTE 2024: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced notification for the Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2024 for filling various Group “B” posts. There are a total of 312 vacancies available for these posts. Candidates with M.A/Diploma qualifications can apply for these posts. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online from 02 August 2024 to 25 August 2024. The detailed eligibility and application process for SSC CHTE 2024 Exams are below.

SSC CHTE 2024 Exam Notification:

The Staff Selection Commission will hold an Open Competitive Computer Based Examination for direct recruitment to Group „B‟ Non-Gazetted posts of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator and Senior Translator for various Ministries/Departments/ Organizations of the Government of India. The age limit for these posts will be 18 to 30 years. The selected candidates will be given Rs. 35,400/- to 1,12,400/- per month. The selection process will be based on a computer-based Examination (CBE) and a descriptive exam. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online from 02 August 2024 to 25 August 2024. For post codes ‘A’ to ‘C’ (Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) /Junior Translation Officer (JTO)/Junior Translator (HT)):

• Master’s degree of a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Graduate level  OR
• Master’s degree of a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Graduate level  OR
• Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of an examination at the Graduate level  OR
• Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Graduate level OR
• Master’s Degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at Graduate level  AND
• Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or two years‟ experience of in translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Govt Office, including Govt of India Undertaking.

For post codes ‘D’ (Senior Hindi Translator/Senior Translator):

• Master’s degree of a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Graduate level  OR
• Master’s degree of a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Graduate level  OR
• Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Graduate level;  OR
• Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Graduate level  OR
• Master’s Degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at the Graduate level  AND
• Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or three years‟ experience of in translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India undertaking.

Age Limit (As on 01 August 2024): 18 to 30 years i.e., candidates born not before 02.08.1994 and not later than 01.08.2006.

Age Relaxation:

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC: 3 years
• PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years
• PwBD (OBC): 13 years
• PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
• Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age.
• Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof: 3 years
• Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof (SC/ST): 8 years

SSC CHTE Salary Details:

• Junior Translation Officer: (Level 6) Rs. 35,400/- to 1,12,400/-
• Junior Translation Officer: (Level 6) Rs. 35,400/- to 1,12,400/-
• Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator: (Level 6) Rs. 35,400/- to 1,12,400/-
• Senior Hindi Translator /Senior Translator: (Level 7) Rs. 44,900/- to 1,42,400/-

SSC Jobs 2024 – Selection Process:

The SSC CHTE selection process will be based on computer-based examination and descriptive.

Scheme of Examination

• Paper I will consist of Objective Type Multiple choice questions only.
• There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I.
• Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep thisin mind while answering the Question.
• The duration will be 2 hours and 40 minutes for the candidates eligible for use of scribe as per Para 6 above

Mode of Selection:

• Minimum qualifying marks in Computer Based Examination are as follows
  • UR: 30%
  • OBC/EWS: 25%
  • All other categories: 20%
• Based on the marks scored in Paper-I; i.e., Computer Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Paper-II (Descriptive Paper).
• Based on the performance in Paper-I & Paper-II, candidates will be considered for final selection. There will be separate category-wise cut-offs in Paper-I & Paper-II.
• Final selection and allocation of Ministry/Department/Organization will be made on the
  basis of the performance of candidates in Paper-I & Paper-II and the preference of Post(s)/Department(s) exercised by them.

• No application fees for Women/SC/ST/PWD/Ex-Service
• For other candidates: Rs. 100/-
